15th ANNIVERSARY of the ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION AND SALE Saturday and Sunday August 27th & 28th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In the Mount Royal Funeral Complex Vernissage: 1 p.m. on Saturday Awards Ceremony: 4:30 p.m. on Sunday This year’s theme is “Serenity” "Every painting is a voyage into a sacred harbour.” (Giotto di Bondone) For the 15thconsecutive year the “Friends of the Mount Royal Cemetery” is inviting artists to join us for this popular two day exhibition in the beautiful and unique setting of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex! Roam the grounds of the magnificent Mount Royal Cemetery overlooking the city and capture the natural beauty and history of this renowned old rural cemetery on the mountain. The many aspects of the cemetery provide great inspiration to artists accounting for the Annual Art Exhibition to be celebrating its 15th anniversary! One of the oldest rural cemeteries in North America, the Mount Royal Cemetery remains an integral part of the Montreal community since its founding in 1852. Serene landscapes and remnants from the past make it a peaceful place of beauty and reality for visitors, while abundant flowering shrubs and fruit trees provide a safe haven for small wildlife. If you are looking for a unique venue in which to display your favourite works, as well as works done in the cemetery, join us for this popular exhibition and reveal your interpretations of “Serenity”.
A qualified panel of judges will select winners based on the criteria of adherence to the theme, composition, originality, and technical ability with the medium of your choice. The jury will choose “'First”, “Second”, “Third”, and “Honourable Mention” while other prizes will be awarded for “Participants’ Choice” and “Host’s Choice”. With the artist’s approval, some of the works may also be included in publications by the Friends of the Mount Royal Cemetery.

Sunday September 18th at 10 a.m. Led by Jerry Bull, experienced botanical guide Autumn is ablaze with color, from the palest yellow to the most intense red. Days are shorter and the cemetery trees are completing their yearly cycle and preparing for the coming winter. Spring flowers, once pollinated, have developed into fruit over the summer in a multitude of forms which we can observe in autumn – berries, drupes, nuts, pods, capsules, samaras, arils - nurturing the seeds within them, with the promise of renewed life in the spring.
