Led by Jerry Bull, experienced botanical guide

Sunday May 29th at 1 p.m.

Spring marks the resurgence of life after the long winter, and by late May the Cemetery trees are bursting into life. The maples will have long since bloomed, starting with the silver and then the red maples in April, and some will be in full leaf and loaded with samaras. Both the male and female ginkgos are in bloom in late May, as are the more showy hawthorns, black cherries, crabapples, and lilacs. The male catkins of the birches, alders, ironwoods, musclewoods and hazels are coming to the end of their long winter vigil as the female catkins begin to appear.
